NEW!!! MEMBERSHIP/SPONSORSHIP FORM
The two most important
ATI strategies moving forward from our August Minneapolis Conference
are raising our profile among agencies/entities that travel trainers
serve, and improving our income.
To bring in more bucks hopefully, ATI now has a two page
Membership/Sponsorship form that you can print out by
clicking
here.
Nothing has
changed concerning membership dues but our three different
membership categories are better explained. What is new is our
Sponsorship program, through which we are offering three different
levels of financial support to public transportation manufacturers
and suppliers and any other entities that are involved somehow in
travel training; the more that such companies donate, the more often
they get their name in front of the ATI membership. So, your Board
of Directors asks all ATI members to help your association grow by
bringing in new ATI sponsors. |

MEMBERSHIP ON THE RISE
As of November 1st, we added three new organizational members, one
new individual and one new auxiliary member, bringing our totals to
60 individual, 18 organizational, and 7 auxiliary members.
Add in other members identified on organizational membership forms
and we are now at 93 total members. We continue to e-mail former
members asking them to join us anew, and we plan to snailmail former
members whom we do not have a current e-mail address on. Know a
former ATI member? Encourage he/she to renew! |

MEMBERS ON THE GO
ATI member Julia Washenberger, who was the
recipient of the Steven W. Dickerson Conference Attendance Grant at
our Minneapolis conference
went on to the Minnesota Age and Disability Odyssey conference where
she displayed ATI pamphlets.
Julia also reached out to the Minnesota Association for Persons in
Supported Employment and the National Spina Bifida Association about
ATI. Great work and thank you, Julia! And in October, ATI Board
member Mark Sheppard delivered two impressive presentations about
travel training and ATI in Tampa. Read all about them by
clicking here. |

OFFICIAL APTA MEMBER
It's official, ATI
is an Affiliate member in the Public Interest category of the
American Public Transportation Association.
Our first application got lost in the mail in September, but as of
November 3, we are an official APTA member. One benefit that stands
out right from the get-go is the May 2009 APTA Bus and Paratransit
Conference in Seattle, for which you have to be an APTA member just
to apply to present. ATI will be doing just that. |

TRAVEL TRAINERS NEEDED
Independence
Care System in New York City needs experienced travel trainers
immediately to work on a consultant basis to help them meet the
requirements of a travel training contract with New York City
Transit.
ICS has a waiting list of individuals with a variety of disabilities
waiting to be trained, but not enough qualified staff to complete
the job. For more information, contact Ms. Loreen Loonie,
loonie@icsny.org, or by telephone at (212) 584-2548. |
