2007 ATI CONFERENCE EVALUATIONS:

For ATI members and others who were able to attend our Seventh Annual Conference from August 17 to 19 in Reno, Nevada, the words that follow will be no surprise. Every event like our conference has its glitches, and to be truthful, we had a few.

However, I’ve had a chance to review the overall conference evaluation that a majority of attendees filled out for the Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities at the University of Nevada, Reno, and the report prepared by new ATI Board of Directors member Sarah Beard concerning individual session ratings.

The Center of Excellence evaluation result was stunning, to me at least: just one attendee reported not being satisfied with the conference and two others were only somewhat satisfied; but, 94% of Reno conference participants reported being satisfied or highly satisfied, with more than two-thirds of this combined group checking off the “highly satisfied” box.

The individual session evaluations were completely different in nature, with a lot more detail and opportunity to comment. Still, our Reno conference attendees were generally satisfied with the overall quality of our agenda. Participants asked that several sessions be repeated next year in Minneapolis, and that we consider some presentations for “beginning” travel trainers and others for those with more experience. There were many more excellent ideas from members, which I assure you will be considered by our conference committee for the 2008 Minneapolis program.

Most remarkable from the individual session evaluations was that each had members in the audience who appreciated the quality of the information being shared. So one more time, let me express my gratitude to every member who helped to plan Reno 2007, and my special thanks to all those members and invited presenters who “stepped up to the plate” to pass on their travel training knowledge to others.

FEDERAL REGULATIONS AND NEWS:

NATIONAL CENTER ON SENIOR TRANSPORTATION WEBSITE

The National Center on Senior Transportation is pleased to announce the launch of its new Web site at www.seniortransportation.net. Six months in development, the site offers extensive resources toward the advancement of transportation options for older adults who wish to live more independently within their communities.  The Web site is the NCST’s most important way of extending its information and resources to the public, including announcements, facts and tips, publications, special events, opportunities of others, and technical assistance for the aging and human service community, transit providers, and older adults and caregivers. The NCST is a partnership of Easter Seals Inc. and the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, and it is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Federal Transit Administration.
