Travel Training Specialist - Riverside Transit Agency

The Riverside Transit Agency is recruiting for the position of Travel Training Specialist.  Under the direct supervision of the Travel Training Supervisor, the Travel Training Specialist primarily conducts in-person assessments of passengers seeking training and teaches program participants to travel safely and independently by accessing public transportation throughout Riverside County as appropriate.   In addition, this position represents the Agency to the public through a planned program utilizing public presentations, community events, special programs, business, community and organization partnerships, and public information dissemination to accomplish Agency and department objectives. Primary objectives are to enhance the mobility of RTA passengers, support Agency programs and initiatives, increase ridership and passenger independence. Provides assistance with program marketing, community outreach and passenger relations activities.

Travel Trainer Program Manager and Travel Trainers

Medical Transportation Management (MTM) is seeking one Program Manager and two Travel Trainers for a new travel training program in Kansas City.  The travel training program includes individualized one-on-one travel training, small group trainings and community outreach.

Program Manager Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Special Education, Nursing, Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Orientation and Mobility or a related field.  A Master’s Degree in one of the above fields is desired. 

The candidate must also have a minimum of three years of Supervisory experience in a human service program and experience in travel training or orientation and mobility training.  The candidate must have experience working with people who have a wide range of disabilities, and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with others.  People with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Travel Trainer Qualifications:
Graduation with an Associates Degree in Education, Human Service, Healthcare or a related field preferred.

Travel Training Program Manager (contract)

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), one of America’s premier transit systems is located in Atlanta, Georgia.  MARTA is the ninth largest transit system in the U.S. and North America that provides bus, rail and mobility services for the elderly, the general population and individuals with disabilities.  MARTA has been allocated Federal New Freedom Program funding from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) to develop a Travel Training program that will expand mobility options for its customers with disabilities.  Research has found that a Travel Training Program that educates customers on how to ride accessible fixed route options is one of the best ways to promote independence and manage the growth of mobility services.  The primary goal of MARTA’s Travel Training program is to provide training to MARTA Mobility passengers with a variety of disabilities on the use and benefits of MARTA’s fixed route bus and train services.

MARTA is seeking the expertise of a proven professional for the position of Travel Training Program Manager.   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSGraduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Human Services, Orientation and Mobility, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field. Experience working with people with disabilities, or an equivalent combination of post high school education.  However, a Master’s Degree is desired. 

The ideal candidate must also have three (3) years of Supervisory experience and two (2) years of project management experience.  In lieu of project management experience, demonstration of a leadership role in various projects is acceptable.  Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in travel training or orientation and mobility training, preferably in the transportation industry or with disability service or advocacy organizations. Must have the ability to interact and communicate effectively with people who have a wide range of disabilities.  People with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

This is a grant-funded contract position with no benefits.  Flexibility in work schedule is important.

Transit Trainer - Central Maryland Regional Transit (CMRT)

Central Maryland Regional Transit (CMRT) has been recommended for funding of a New Freedom grant for a mobility management project that allows for the creation of the position of a Transit Trainer. This trainer will be responsible for the development and implementation of the FY 2011 New Freedom Transit Training Program.  

Responsibilities:
- Develop transit training materials which will include, but not limited to, a training curriculum, short video and other program materials.
- Conduct training workshops on how to use fixed route public transportation. These workshops will target people who work with the disabled population (i.e. job coaches, counselors, rehabilitation specialists etc.)
- Assemble an advisory board that will assist in guiding the project and provide assistance in identifying training participants as well as measuring the project outcomes.
- Performing program outreach and marketing.

Ideal Qualifications:
-
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite as well as knowledge of graphics design software is desirable.
- Experience with public transportation and/or training, a plus.
