Kristen Salkas

Kristen Salkas is a Mobility Outreach Coordinator for the Regional Transportation Authority in Chicago and PhD student in Disability Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She’s worked at the RTA for five years: working as a Travel Trainer, a Group Outreach Specialist and now a Mobility Outreach Coordinator. In addition to her professional experience in the field, Kristen has taken graduate-level coursework pertaining to transportation, service systems for people with disabilities, and the ADA. As part of her PhD studies she performed an evaluation of the RTA’s Travel Training program, which provided the organization with systems-level insight to travel training service provision. Currently, Kristen is conducting dissertation work on transportation options for people with disabilities with hopes to work as a policy analyst in the disability field. Her peer-reviewed publications and numerous professional presentations (including three at ATI annual conferences) are evidence of her commitment to becoming a leader in the field.
