Jane Mahoney brings a wealth of experience in developing training and resources for transportation professionals who serve older adults and individuals with disabilities. Her work focuses on key areas such as accessible transportation, inclusive language, ADA standards and reasonable accommodation, digital accessibility, and community engagement.

She has played a pivotal role in connecting family caregiver professionals with community transportation programs — an area where demand is high, but utilization remains low. Jane has created training for transportation providers to better understand and meet the unique needs of family caregivers, while also educating caregiver professionals on how transportation services can be integrated into caregiver support plans.

Digital accessibility is another area of Jane’s expertise. She provides training on how to design websites, digital tools, and apps to be accessible to all users, in alignment with WCAG 2.0 standards and recent DOJ rulings. As the manager of the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC) website, she ensures that content is easy to navigate, relevant, and accessible.

Jane is a strong advocate for coordination and community engagement. She leads NADTC’s Coordination Advisory Committee and was instrumental in developing the Coordination Committee Toolkit. Building on this work, she also created a Community Engagement Toolkit that offers a structured approach to gathering input from those most affected by transportation decisions.

Throughout her career, Jane has demonstrated innovative thinking and a systems-based approach to problem solving. Her service on multi-sector groups—including the National Alliance for Caregiving Advisory Group, the Governor’s Task Force on Caregiving, and the Wisconsin Family & Caregiver Support Alliance—reflects her commitment to collaborative, cross-sector solutions that improve community services.
