Jeffrey Dennis is a Senior Research Specialist and Travel Instructor with NJTIP @ Rutgers. He has been with the program since July 2015, and his primary responsibilities include teaching individuals with disabilities, senior citizens, and others how to utilize public transit safely and independently. Mr. Dennis creates individualized travel curriculums for his customers to meet their independent travel goals. He is the lead content creator in creating and editing customer video testimonials to help further the NJTIP mission. Mr. Dennis is also the Principal Investigator for the One-on-One Training Program at NJTIP @ Rutgers, which offers travel instruction to individuals who have gone through the NJ Transit Access Link Application process and have been recommended for Travel Instruction.
During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Dennis showcased his resilience and adaptability as the lead designer for virtual travel training and virtual field trips. These innovative virtual tools provided the necessary continuity for NJTIP’s customers and small-group travel instruction and set a new standard in the industry. The success of NJTIP’s virtual training was further underscored when Mr. Dennis presented his virtual curriculum design and virtual field trips at a national conference for the Association of Travel Instruction, demonstrating his ability to thrive in adverse situations.
Mr. Dennis’s expertise and contributions have earned him significant recognition. In August 2023, he was appointed to the esteemed Board of Directors for the Association of Travel Instructors, a testament to his leadership and influence in the field. His influence extends beyond this role, as he has been a frequent presenter at state and local meetings and conferences, sharing his profound knowledge and insights on travel instruction and mobility options throughout the state.
Mr. Dennis received a B.A. from Rutgers University in 2008 in Psychology, focusing on Child and Adolescent Development. From 2008 to 2015, he worked for the Douglass Developmental Disability Center, serving the needs of young adult students with autism spectrum disorders.
Mr. Dennis has served on several ATI committees and currently serves as the Media Co-Chair.
