ATI Announces Its 2026 Conference Keynote

The Association of Travel Instruction is pleased to announce that Dr. Sungyop Kim will serve as the keynote speaker for the 26th annual conference in Kansas City.

Dr. Sungyop Kim is a Professor of Urban Planning and Design in the Division of Natural and Built Environment at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. His research areas include travel behavior and traffic safety, with a focus on older adults and building safe and resilient communities in the context of climate change. He specializes in traffic and pedestrian safety studies, as well as issues that affect older adults as they navigate their communities.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kim has taught courses in urban surface transportation, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), quantitative planning methods and techniques, land use, and urban planning and design studio.

Through our work, we understand that independence extends beyond transportation services alone. It requires thoughtfully designed communities, safe pedestrian environments, and systems that support mobility throughout the lifespan. We recognize the important connection between transportation planning, community design, and individual mobility and Dr. Kim brings a unique perspective that aligns with ATI's mission.
