Stepping Into Leadership: Joining the ATI Board of Directors

This year has brought an exciting new chapter in my journey with the Association of Travel Instruction. Following the 2026 ATI Conference this summer, I officially began serving as President of ATI’s Board of Directors – a role I am honored and excited to take on.

My name is Meagan Greathouse, and I am a Mobility Specialist with METRO Regional Transit Authority in Akron, Ohio. In just a few weeks, I will celebrate my 20-year work anniversary on October 24.

My involvement with ATI has allowed me to connect with professionals from across the country who share a common passion: helping people access their communities through public transportation. Travel Instruction plays an important role in building independence and confidence, and I have always valued being part of a community that understands how meaningful this work can be.

Over the years, I have had the opportunity to serve ATI in several capacities, including as a Board member, Media Committee Chair, and member of the Professional Development and Conference Committees. I have also enjoyed helping with the ATI website and rebranding efforts. Each role has given me a different perspective on the organization and allowed me to contribute in new ways. Moving into the role of President feels like a natural next step, while also bringing new challenges and opportunities.

One of the things I value most about ATI is that it is a peer-driven organization. We learn from one another, share ideas and experiences, and work together to strengthen Travel Instruction and the professionals who provide it. I am excited about the work ahead with our Board and committees. We have a great group of people who bring different experiences and perspectives to ATI, and I believe that is one of our greatest strengths. There is so much potential ahead, and I look forward to working together to continue moving the organization forward.

Taking on this role is both an honor and a responsibility. I am grateful for the confidence that has been placed in me and for the people who have encouraged and supported me throughout my involvement with ATI.
