Networking at Membership Mixers
Travel professionals connecting at an ATI networking event.
One of the most exciting member perks is ATI’s Membership Mixers. These virtual meet-ups (open to members and newcomers alike) are all about connecting and collaborating. As ATI put it in a recent invite, mixers are a chance to “connect, collaborate, and expand your network” with travel instructors and mobility advocates from around the country. At an April mixer, trainers gathered in small groups to share best practices and even set professional goals for the year, sparking “meaningful conversations with fellow professionals in travel instruction and beyond”.
By joining these mixers you can:
Connect nationwide: Meet both veteran instructors and new trainers, gaining fresh perspectives beyond your agency.
Share best practices: Learn what’s working for others – from route training tips to accessibility solutions.
Set and achieve goals: Collaborate on professional goals (for example, April’s session focused on goal-setting) so you stay motivated all year.
Find inspiration: Each mixer centers on practical, inspiring themes relevant to your work. Future mixers will continue exploring useful topics to support your day-to-day training.
These informal gatherings are a unique chance to grow your support network. No matter where you work, you’ll meet peers who understand the challenges of travel training and can help you overcome them.
Get Involved Through Committees
Beyond mixers and events, ATI offers ways to make your mark. Members are encouraged to join committees that shape the organization. Committee members provide feedback, assist with tasks and ensure their voice is heard. Joining a committee is a great way to lead initiatives, develop new skills, and influence the future of travel training. It’s also a powerful networking opportunity – you’ll collaborate closely with fellow members and board leaders on shared goals.
